Välkommen
till ett frukostseminarium om FN:s MDG-möte
Den
20 – 22 september möts världens ledare i New York för ett FN-toppmöte om
millenniemålen (The MDG Summit 2010). Syftet är att ge millenniemålsarbetet ny
politisk energi samt att påminna alla parter om att leva upp till de åtaganden
som gjordes för 10 år sedan. Detta för att kunna halvera fattigdomen till 2015.
UNDP:s
Nordiska kontor håller tillsammans med Sida och utrikesdepartementet två seminarier
som uppmärksammar FN:s millenniemålstoppmöte. Det första seminariet kommer att
ge svar på hur FN:s toppmöten går till, vad som står på agendan, vilka de stora
knäckfrågorna är samt hur förhandlingarna kring det så kallade Outcome Document går till. Dessutom
berättar UD om hur Sverige och EU kommit fram till sin position, vilka frågor
man prioriterar och varför just dessa frågor är viktiga.
Varmt
välkomna till frukostseminariet som inleds med gemensam fika mellan 08:30 till
09:00. Därefter inleds seminariet.

UNDP is an advocate for change, connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP is on the ground in 166 countries, and is looking for staff who can work with countries on their own solutions to development challenges: promoting democratic governance, reducing poverty, preventing or recovering from crisis, finding sustainable energy and environmental solutions, and combating HIV and AIDS.
Sida arbetar på uppdrag av riksdag och regering att minska fattigdomen i världen. Huvuddelen av biståndsbudgeten går till samarbete med olika länder. I Östeuropa arbetar vi med reformarbete som bekostas av ett särskilt anslag inom biståndsbudgeten. Samverkan mellan Östersjöns grannländer drivs av Östersjöteamet i Visby. Det bekostas utanför biståndsbudgeten.
UD:s uppgift är framför allt att hjälpa regeringen att sköta Sveriges utrikespolitik och ansvara för Sveriges förbindelser med andra länder. Till UD hör cirka 100 ambassader och konsulat som tillsammans med UD utgör utrikesförvaltningen.
